The National Immigration Service («Servicio Nacional de Migración», SNM) along with the Technical Board of Engineering and Architecture (JTIA) on April 20 agreed to eliminate visa for foreign professional in the area of engineering, architecture and technical careers related to the same branch. These professions are exclusively for Panamanian citizens.
These approaches paid off. After three days, the SNM reported that they will not receive applications for permits for permanent residence for foreign professionals in engineering, architecture and related technical careers.
Currently SNM sees opportunities in other careers if they are needed as researcher or scientist.
